We recently designed this beautiful sea green bone inlay dresser for a client who is decorating her new New England oceanside house in the popular coastal chic decor style. I am obsessing over how beautiful it turned out! The soft shade of teal is one of my favorite colors, and the elegant feminine floral pattern is just so stunning.
I can’t wait to see photos of her home when it’s completed, but for now, I put together an inspo collage for the rest of us to daydream over a coastal home of our own!
And you know, you don’t have to live by the shore to create an easy-going beach vibe in your space.
Here are a couple of ways you can take inspiration from the coastal chic interior design style and apply them to any room in your house:
Start with a beachy keen color palette: sea glass green, coral pink, weathered blue, turquoise and creamy whites.
Choose items that have a touch of nautical reference, without going overboard! Keep it chic and timeless.
Use a few accent pieces made from natural or weathered wood or other natural fibers.
Driftwood elements, natural wood mirrors, and pieces that are accented in rope are perfect for bringing that rustic oceanside feel into a space. For a beautiful statement mirror, click here to see some great options. Consider rattan chairs or wicker baskets, which are great for tossing laundry or blankets at the foot of the bed.
And be sure to allow for lots of natural light.
Tuck a cozy reading chair right next to an open window for a relaxing place to have a tropical cocktail or soothing cup of warm tea. Let yourself embrace the casual, comfortable style of coastal living anywhere!
